Green Homes Grant
What is it?
The Green Homes Grant is a recently announced £2bn fund to encourage energy efficient home improvements across England.
Under this scheme, homeowners and landlords can apply for a voucher covering up to two thirds of the cost of energy efficient home improvements, up to a maximum of £5000. If you are in a low-income household, this can rise to up to £10,000.
The measures where households can claim funding are split into “primary” and “secondary” categories. Households will need to install at least one of the primary measures below to qualify for funding.
Insulation
Solid wall, cavity wall, under-floor, loft, flat roof, room in roof, park home.
Low carbon heat
Air source heat pump, ground source heat pump, solar thermal
So long as one primary measure has been installed, households will also be able to install secondary measures, provided that the amount subsidised does not exceed that of the primary measures (for example, if a household receives £1,000 for primary measures, they can only receive a maximum of £1,000 towards secondary measures)
The secondary measures are:
Draught proofing
Windows and doors: Double/triple glazing (where replacing single glazing), secondary glazing (in addition to single glazing), upgrading to energy efficient doors (where replacing doors installed prior to 2002).
Heating controls and insulation: appliance thermostats, hot water tank thermostats, hot water tank insulation, smart heating controls, zone controls, delayed start thermostat, thermostatic radiator valves
How are Eclipse involved in Green Homes Grant?
As energy efficient home improvement specialists, Eclipse have regularly been involved in large government-backed schemes to improve the existing housing stock in the UK and meet international and national environmental targets. These include the Better Homes Yorkshire scheme, providing room-in-the-roof conversions as well as the ECO boiler scheme, with hundreds of free boilers installed across the country.
We are regularly liaising with local and governmental authorities on this scheme and have all the accreditations in place alongside qualified retrofit assessors.
We expect to be one of the leading providers on this scheme in the North of England and will work with homeowners and the government to ensure that they access the necessary funding and have works completed to a high standard.
